trend? Why are there so many questions reguarding 5 and 6 week old pups? It's horrible to think that there's so many breeders out there getting rid of their pups this early.
Is this most likely because of the Christmas season + $ or is this an all-year-long thing? It seems like there's been atleast 20 people a day claiming to have 5 and 6 week old puppies..

savethepitbulls67890: First off, I love your pup on you pic =] I love pits. Also, yes, I JUST make the connection when I stumbed upon yet another question from a person with a 6 week old puppy. I'm glad everyone's agreeing.

Shanna : Nicee! I didn't think about that. Great answer. Yeah, I guess the only benefit we'll be getting is more points to answer the sad questions..
NOT a Black St.: I def. agree. It does seem like the just can put in two more weeks to keep them long enough to be the proper age. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure if that would matter in the type of living conditions they're in.

Golden Gal: I'm always glad to see your answers. Yes, that does make sense. People seem to become more and more irresponsible, money hungry, and stupid lately. Sad thing is, I'm not even close to being a breeder and I could still probably do a better job than them. (But I'd never try that un-educated on the subject,of course).

Just think, in 6 months or so, we will be able to help all those folks with their dog's behavioral issues due to lack of proper socialization! Yippee!!!
It is pretty alarming and sickening all at the same time.

It is very sad indeed! It's not just at Christmas time either. There every time of the year. The reason is that this is when mom usually doesn't do everything for the pups and then the person in charge has to do most of the work.
Well it's too much like work so instead of cleaning up after the pups and feeding then they get rid of them at 5 weeks old.
They are not real breeders at all but money hungry morons who could care less what happend to the pups as long as they have their money in their pockets, and they don't have to clean or spend any more money on the pups.
ADD: You know I loved this age in pups. They grow so quickly and learn so much. They are so comical and yes they are a lot of work but when you see the look on the peoples faces who have been waiting and wanting one of your pups your know it was worth all the work and the mess and money you put into each litter you produce. I just dont get it sometimes but then I was not like these people at all. Thank God! :)

The breeders that send home 5-6 week old puppies don't want the responsiblity of feeding them any longer than possible. It's easier to send them off to the new oweners to worry about. I work at a vet clinic and we see this all the time. The new owners are clueless about the puppies being to young to take home and the breeders say they don't know it's against state law to sell them before 8 weeks of age. We also see a lot more behavior problems such as separation anxiety and fear aggression in those dogs.

There is nothing new... there are always people with litters of puppies who have no clue what they are doing before they breed a litter.
They don't know how to breed let alone care for a litter of puppies.
They have to ask a bunch of strangers for help when they don't have a clue what they are doing....
Sure people try to have puppies ready for christmas.. then once they don't sell they are desperate and dump them or let them go free or drop them at shelters...
5-6 weeks old puppies haven't learned bite inhibition and will most likely have behavorial problems unless the owner is experience in training which so many people aren't... Puppies really need to stay with the litter until at least 8 weeks old but, 10-12 weeks old is even better...

Its disgusting really. I am a sucker for dogs and puppies, I went to have a look at a job with my partner for work and they had these puppies there. The lady was so horrible, the puppies were five weeks old she had taken the mother away and had them on hard dry biscuits only. They were full of worms, fleas and very skinny. Me being the way I am, I took all 10 of them. I felt really good when I housed the last one at 4 months old, they all went to loving homes and they were healthy and happy. I ended up losing one because the worms were so bad. The lady didnt even know what the father was. I gave all of the puppies away but 1 which I kept myself. Most of them went to my family and friends because they werent pedigree and I didnt want them going to the wrong people. People really need to wake up and stop treating puppies so horrible. Buyers wonder why they have so many social problems with new puppies.

I am no breeder but I consider my self a responsible owner and I get very angry when a friend of family member brags about their little 5 week old puppy I just fell so bad for the puppy and want to hit the owner. I just wish people were more compassionate and would treat animal in general better.

That is actually a really good point...I can't believe I didn't make that connection.
I bet it's because of the Christmas season and the BYB's wanted the money, even if it meant selling the puppies much too early. There have been a lot of those questions lately...pretty sad.

Getting those Christmas pups out in time to make money is motivation but this has been going on forever. These same pups will be showing up at shelters all over later in the year.

It is a year around issue but since most of the bybers and puppy millers are geared up to produce puppies to hawk for Christmas, we see more now -- they have always done this though - as far back as I can recall (many decades! tooo many!) people have always placed puppies way too young -- I can't even recall the hundreds of puppies I have had people bring to me dying because they are way too young to have been taken from the litter and were not given proper instructions as to how to feed them and they would just be limp little lumps in my hand from massive dehydration - and this was pre-parvo... it is just so sad and there is little that can be done even with intensive veterinary interventions - which most of these people weren't willing to have anyway...
Then there are the many hundreds/thousands actually, of problematic dogs in training classes that even with good training would never be confident, social dogs because they were removed from their littermates too young and never learned how to properly interact with their own species... HUGE problem but it is a constant and likely always will be since not only do people irresponsibly and ignorantly breed but they irresponsibly and ignorantly purchase so they simply feed off of one another and the dogs are the ones that end up suffering for it :(

Well, basically to get straight the very answer of your question..
about 90% of americans are all low life, self centered, money hungry, greedy grungy people, Who only care about themselves, and of course, making a quick buck of their puppies. And geeze, its xmas time, what a great time to knock a couple years off their own dogs life, and sell 5 week old puppies, and make a quick buck. I can't stand it.. GO GET A REAL JOB PEOPLE!
If you feel the need to breed your dog for money, you ARE a low life! plain and simple.
