Marijuana and the Hair?

Question

I was talking to my friend earlier and he was all distraught. He had smoke marijuana for the first time in his life after school. He has to take a hair test in a couple of days and they send the hair off to a lab to get tested. (We go to the same school). I was wondering if there is anyway to help him to get the stuff out of his system before possibly friday but next tuesday is the latest. What can you do that will actually work? He is a good guy but he is going through some tough stuff. He wanted to experiment and is really upset and spazzing out. Please help him...

Detox pills wouldn't do the trick if it's a hair test. If it was his only time smoking, he has a good chance of beating it. However, to be on the safe side he should visit his local head shop (pipe shop that sells bongs, rolling papers, etc) and they will have a shampoo he can purchase. There will more than likely be an asortment to choose from so ask the person behind the counter which works best and they should be able to provide you that information.

The shampoo will be pretty pricey too since it isn't regular shampoo. Look to spend about 20-35 dollars.

OK if he only tried it ONCE then it may not be an issue.

Most tests test for concentrations of substances that are going to be higher than what it is for one time. That way they can rule out false positives and '2nd hand smoke'.

I don't know if using a detox drink will have any effect on a hair follicle test. Most likely not.

Tell him to relax and have a beer and try not to think about it.

There is nothing to do to clean his system out.

It is very likely, however, that any hair containing traces of THC metabolites have not yet emerged from the skin surface. Depending on his hair growth rate, this could very well allow him to test negative.

When confronted with the test, he should have the tester take a sample of hair from whereever on his body his hair grows the slowest. Try to ensure that when the sample is taken it is a short distance away from the skin, rather than all the hair right down to the follicle.

If at all possible, he should have the test sooner rather than later.

1. the can use ANY hair
2. not sure but if it was very recently it might not have grown yet(but i think they use the roots, if the dont and you can pull your own hair just grab off the roots)
3. if hes a minor not much should happen to him

To take hair "swatches" eliminates all ways of trying to hide illicit drugs. The hair retains all chemicals that pass through the system and trap them in the hair folicals. Drug useage can even be determined in intervals of weeks through the testing process as the father the hair from the scalp tests postitive, the longer the time has gone by that the individual has "used". The closer the hair is to the scalp and is tested positive, the sooner the individual "used".( very close to the scalp would tell them he has used within a couple of weeks)
Having said that, It would be best for your friend to just be up front with his usage and let his parents know that it was a one time thing done out of stupidity and curiousity. They WILL find out anyway and it is better to come clean than to try to act surprised at the findings. All teenagers "dabble" but the smart ones never make it a habit!
He would be wise to tell his family it was a lesson learned and be done with it.

The hair stores it as it grows out . it may show up in the follicle but not in the external hair as yet. they average the length of hair to the amount of growth so they can estimate when it was used. lets say your hair grows an inch a month so they can figure 1/4 inch per week

If it was a Urine test yes but unfortunately if it is a Hair sample NO. All things you do or have done are stored in your RNA so If you took prozac or any substance it can always be traced through your hair. Im sure there is a time period of which they go away. But I have seen cases of up to 50 yrs in which substance were found.

There are some pills you can get at Wallgreens or Wal-mart that detox your body of the drugs (Ex. Sweat it out)
You don't have to be over 18 to buy these and its over
the counter.
Cranberry juice/pills also, I hear, help get it out of your system.

Tell him to try drinking Detox and stuff like that. you can usually get it at a good smoke shop like shellshock or jupiter.
