means that immigration policy has dramatically increased the supply of workers with less than a high school degree. Although immigrants comprise about 12 percent of America's workforce, they account for 31 percent of high school dropouts in the workforce. This means that any effects on the wages or job opportunities of natives will disproportionately affect less-skilled workers. Immigrants are 60% more likely to be employed in low-skilled occupations than are native-born workers.

How or why does that effect the economy?

Ah! So you DID mean "illegal" aliens. Okay then! good for you!

I'd best answer the question but, no dice. I'm more inclined to respond to WHY this is the case.

Illegal immigration is a by-product of the all-to-bizarre and totally UNNATURAL sudden growth in population that has resulted from our superiority over the very powers of nature, itself.

Infant mortality, in the days of, say, Mozart's birth, was about 70%. Today, it is measured in fractions.

In those countries where such science brought about the corralling of natural hell, education has long been the norm.

Unfortunately, where such learnedness is NOT the norm, mass-production of little humans (with no plan to prepare them for competitiveness in a modern world) is growing so feverish that their overflow tends to gravitate toward nations like our own.

There. Shame on me. But, dang it! It's the truth.

Okay but there are plenty of Americans that have lived here all their lives and have low skilled occupations and also have a low level of education. I get your point but what can you honestly expect? Most immigrants from Mexico aren't well educated because they have limited opportunities to do so. People in America have those opportunities and don't seize them to their fullest. As far as I'm concerned it helps our economy rather than destroy it fully.

That's crap, did u pull all this statistics out off your ...
Most immigrants are well educated and have good jobs, the only reasons why some immigrant take low paying jobs when they just come here is because most time they have to go back to school because America don't accept their degrees and certifications from the country they are coming from, so most times immigrant have to qualify twice for whatever field they are in.

Someone said that immigrants are on welfare, that's absolutely untruth. Most immigrant when they come here they sponsor the children, parents or siblings and you have to be earning 120 percent above poverty line to be qualified, for one you cant be on welfare. You all need to check your facts before you go posting crap

This had better be homework or something. I hope you are young, and just too lazy to think it out yourself.

The answer is obvious.
