What do you do with a gift that you hate?

like on christmas you get it and you absoulutly hate it do you return it somehow,throw it away, or keep it?

return it or save for next year to regift, just dont give it to the same person that gave it to you!!! LOL

I was raised that no one owes you squat, so you must be gracious for any gift you receive. FIrst of all, put on an Oscar-winning performance and thank them as genuinely as you can. Next, write a thank-you note if it is not your immediate family (ie. not living in your house). If you can't come up with anything nice to say about the gift, thank them for their thoughtfulness. And what to do with it? One man's trash is another man's treasure--donate it, unless you think the gift giver will be looking for you to use or wear the item someday. In that case, be like Ralphie on the Christmas Story and use it/wear it when they visit.

Hopefully the giver of the hated gift had enough sense to include a gift receipt so you can exchange it for something you prefer. Otherwise, I would donate it to Goodwill or the Salvation Army or any other similar organization.

I got these ugly shoes collecting dust under my bed to this day. Haven't had the heart to throw it away because my parents gave them to me and they didn't give me a return receipt.

Try to return it or regift it. I am big on re-gifting. Or I just donate it to Goodwill or something.
