Only in joint commands.

The Marine Corps is part of the Department of the Navy, but is a separate branch of the military. The top officer in the Marine Corps, the Commandant, is on the same level as the highest ranking officer in the Navy, the Chief of Naval Operations. Both officers have equal status on the Joint Chiefs of Staff, along with the Army Chief of Staff and the Air Force Chief of Staff.

In the general scheme of things, no Marines would not be answering to Admirals. But my husband went through flight training and the marine corps does that with the navy so he had Navy and Marine Corps officers in his squadron. So he would take orders from high ranking navy officers. As Marines they had their own direct chain of command though. So going the other direction, instead of taking something to his main instructor (a navy Lt) it went through the senior marine in the squadron.

The Marines have their own chain of command. The highest ranking Marine is the Cammandant of the Marines (a member of the Joint Chiefs), who answers to the Secretary of the Navy and the President. No Marine (outside of Joint Operations) answers to Navy Officers.

If they are assigned to a Naval Command then yes they could recieve commands from an Admiral. However the Commandant of the Marine Corps (a 4 star General), is in charge of the entire USMC.

No. Admirals are not in the direct chain of command.

The Commandant of the Marine Corps is the head guy and he reports to the Secretary of the Navy who is a civilian, who reports to the Secretary of Defense then to the President.

Now in joint operations, you have officers of different branches giving orders to commanders of different branches.

As a Marine, Soldier, Airmen or Sailor you are bound by Military Law and General Military Authority. General Military Authority means that no matter what service you are in, you must obey the order of those that out rank you, without pride or prejudice.
So as a SGT in the Army, if I saw a CPL in the Marines doing the wrong thing. I would correct him, and he would be bound by General Military Authority to comply.

As a Marine you answer to your Co

And your CO will never be an Admiral.

That being said if an Admiral happens to tell you to do something I would advise doing it.

In a joint operating environment, they take their commands from the theater CINC regardless of service. This authority is derived from the Secretary of Defense who, in turn derives it from the President. So, in effect, no, they get their orders from a former Air National Guard Lieutenant.
