They call it 'acote' in New Mexico, it blows aways anything listed thus far. Usually starts as Douglas fir or pine that gets struck by lightning, no joke. The left over wood is perfectly preserved with all the sap dried and intact, making it a variable fire bomb waiting to happen. Coolest thing is a spiral ring forms around the ring from top to bottom in perfect examples. Dip it under water and light with a match, awesome stuff!!

poplar, i think. maybe pine if its dry. oak is a hard wood and will burn longer than both poplar or pine. douglas fir, who knows, we don't have many of those were i come from.

poplar is small and gets a fire started it burns really quickly

I'd say pine, because of the oil content.
