Well, I'm a native Spanish speaker but grew up here in the States. I am a perfectionist and would prefer not to have an accent. Let me tell you that my fiance who is American has told me that he would actually prefer it if I HAD a Spanish accent. It's all about preference, I don't like it but if you do then that is totally fine. It also depends on how old you were when you came to this country. Studies show that if you arrived after age ten you will have an accent for pretty much the rest of your life. If you would like to improve your English talk and practice it as much as possible! Teachers love to have their students speak in class! I know, I'm a student teacher!

Actually, if your grammar is good, the Spanish accent adds a bit of exotic flavor to your speech. And you could always exaggerate it for comic effect, if you're able to laugh at yourself. Focus on the grammar, and don't worry about your pronunciation much. BTW, I am a Caucasian Canadian, but I was born in your country near Barrancabermeja. My father was an accountant for the Tropical Oil Company in the 1930's.
