I have a 1997 V6 camaro with a 1 year old cd player installed in it. About 10 months after I installed the cd player it started shutting off randomly. I checked all connections and could not fine any fouled wires. I then discovered that when the radio shuts off, I cannot roll my windows down or use my power mirrors. I have noticed that this happens mostly when i hit bumps or start applying my brakes hard, but like I said, its completely random, sometimes it will do it, sometimes it wont. If someone could give me some suggestions that i can start looking at i would appreciate it. Thanks!

you need to check to make sure you have a good ground for the stereo(negative -black wire) connected to the chassis or battery of your vehicle. Also I would connect the positive-(red) wire directly to the positive terminal in the fuse block and install an inline fuse holder and fuse close to the fuse block. This should solve your radio problems.

I would test the voltage coming from the battery while engine is running should be about 12-14 volts also check to see if battery is grounded properly

Your alternator might be starting to go. Our '97 Camaro had all sorts of weird electrical problems before the alternator died.

Check for a bad common ground for radio, windows and mirrors...may be a loose screw or frayed wire. Eautorepair.net has wiring diagrams....small fee.

I'm not sure on that vehicle where it's located, but, check your connection at the body control module. On some GM vehicles it's under one of the front seats.
