I have never experience this but I did wake up long before they thought I would, I screamed in pain cause they hadn't given me any pain meds yet, it was terrible.

Hey, Yaguru--I have had 19 surgeries and was put out for only two of them. The first time I went under I had a reaction and tried to die. The last time was because they would not let me-I had my broken nose repaired (it crushed the septum). All others were by local only. Knee surgeries, testicle surgeries, elbow repairs, removal of body parts....

You can have almost any surgery with a spinal or a general local.

An anesthesiologist on here, after twenty years in the field, took a survey of all her friends that worked in this field, She had over 20,000 under her without a problem, the others, hundreds of thousands, so I would worry to much.

I heard a story about this. Its pretty much impossible. About as likely as being abducted by aliens.

turns out that the people who report being awake during surgery ALSO are people who have been abducted.

They are just attention hogs.

If possible and as painless as practical. I'm not big on drugs to begin with, and I want to know when it's over. The last time I went under, the nurse was getting frustrated that I wouldn't wake up and give her her gurney back. I warned them, don't do that.
