if i get one from japan will it be able to play ps2 games from the uk? i think jap and uk have same region but not sure....

UK is in PAL region, Japan is in NTSC J region. PS3 games are region free, but PS1/2 games and movies aren't. Japanese PS3 (long gone 20GB and almost sold out 60GB) have the best backwards compatibility with PS2 games. Japanese version has an extra online feature, but it's valid for japanese residents only.

unless you are ok with the standard of the ps3 being offered in the UK you might want to try the japan or US versions. i have heard a lot of grumbling from ppl in the UK about the lack of features for the same price. i think the best bet is to wait for SONY to stop &%$#@(* around and finish the console already lol.

it's like buying a car and having the company tell you that next month we will be able to offer it with round tires instead of square ones lol.

Yes of course because japan is where PS3 is made and it would probally be the best.And PS3s are shipped from japan to every where else
