Because not everyone believes in evolution.

a) Intelligence does not prevent anyone from believing foolish things.
b) Evolution has not had long enough to work on them.
c) Evolution does not result in BETTER life forms--only life forms better suited to their environment. The Christian fundamentalists currently are well-suited to the environment of the deep south.
