(such as praying to the saints to ask them to intercede) are pagan, yet the virgin birth, Jesus resurrecting from the dead, and a god being three persons in one seems completely monotheistic to you. Why the double standard?

Perhaps you mean a few Christians, as I certain didn't and would never say something like that. Perhaps you could confine your comments to specific people rather than the huge universe that is Christianity?

Ranto, I agree...I believe most of the Bible is metaphor, but not in the literary sense, rather in the sense that it takes a lot of study and desire to learn that creates the wisdom.

Protestants don't realize that Catholics don't actually pray to saints -- but instead ask the saints to pray for them. It is one of many misconceptions that Protestants have about Catholics.

The question I have is how so many Protestants believe that Genesis has to be taken literally, but then do not believe in transubstantiation. If Jesus was speaking metaphorically when he said "This is my body" isn't it possible that God was speaking metaphorically in Genesis?

First we Orthodox are Chritians if you mean non Orthodox/Catholic then you mean protestants. Christ resurecting from the dead is the heart of Christianity -for if there is no ressurection then all Christian preaching is invaine. As it the virgin birth
