What special circumstances exist for women who are making the trip to Mecca?

Men and Women go for the Haj. I do not know of ''special'' circumstances. The men and the women do stay separate. Tho, I thought most things were the same for them..

But in general, women dont face any difficulties going for Hajj

If you are talking about the Hodge, I think only men go.
