Today I broke up for my girlfriend, for complicated reasons. Basically, she did some things that really hurt me, and I although I tried to forgive her, it made me lose trust. also, my passion was gone and it didn't feel right. i broke up with her in person, and was very nice about it, but she broke down. she flipped out and threatened to kill herself and begged me not to leave her. i feel so bad because i hate hurting people, especially her. i don't know what i am writing this, i just feel like crap, but i was trying to do the right thing. i don't know what to do.

It's okay to love her without loving and accepting her behavior. She will make her own choices, and live with the consequences, as you must yours.

I don't think a relationship can survive on threats and fear. Endeavor to love her unconditionally and forgive her sincerely, and if that manifests itself into a romantic love where you desire to be with her again, then communicate your feelings.

But we are unable to control others. There is a possibility that she will act out in her current despair, or decide you are not the one for her, during your time of uncertainty.

Pray, meditate on the choices and consequences, seek outside advice if it helps, and then choose what you believe to be right, even though you are not assured of the results. Good luck.

If you love someone, you don't emotionally blackmail them by saying you'll hurt yourself or kill yourself. Forget her, you need to protect yourself, not protect someone who could do this to you.
