Hmm yeah a little heavy. Careful with your feeding coz german shepheards can gain weight easily and are very prone to hip dysplasia.
Some german shepheards grow enourmous though so you may have a huge dog too. Look at her paws, it's a good indication of how big they're gonna get. If their paws are quite big in contrast to the rest of their body or legs, you'll probably find that they'll get quite big.

Edit: Yeah post a picture. But there is no such thing as an overweight puppy. Just an overweight dog. So at 13 weeks i dont think i'd be worrying too much about her being over weight, but what and the ammount you feed her throughout her puppyhood will determine whether she's an overweight adult or not.

Edit: WOAH huge 13 week old pup!! Lol you sure it's 13 weeks? My Golden retreiver is 8 months and he's only a little bit bigger than your dog. Looks like she's gonna be a big dog when she gets older.
Also Erica (the answerer below), i'm not saying that she sould be feeding her dog whatever she wants coz it's a puppy, i'm just saying that a puppy wont clearly show it's overweight until it's an adult. A vet actually told me so i'm not saying that coz i feel like saying it. So just aslong as she's feeding her puppy the right amount she'll be a healthy dog. I also know alot about hip dysplasia coz my little golden just had an operation.. it's called irresponsible breeding. So yeah, did you purchase your dog from the internet? Careful about those type of things, get insurance on her right away incase she maybe have any problems, that's what i did with mine. I got him from a pet shop and low and behold he has hip dysplasia.
Your dog looks beautiful, hope you have many happy years with her.

Post a picture. It would really depend on her size if she's a good weight or not. Better yet, why don't you just ask her vet what he thinks? She'll be due for her rabies vaccinations soon and you can ask then. If she's too heavy, the vet can give you a good diet plan for her. If she's a healthy weight, don't worry about it.

It's hard to tell from these pictures. We'd need a standing shot from the side. Do not believe there is no such thing as overweight for a puppy. Fat shepherd puppies are more likely to have dysplasia than ones that are kept at a healthy weight. Genetics is the main factor in this but extra weight can make it worse.

Okay, you need a new vet who can keep his/her personal feelings from interfering with his/her job. Try this to check your pup's weight. Stand her up and run your hand down her ribs. You should be able to easily feel them but not see them (with shepherds, seeing the last rib is fine and actually correct). Now run your hand down her back. You should be able to feel her spine under a nice layer of flesh but you should not see it. Her hip bones should have a nice layer of flesh over them and they should not be sticking out. If you cannot easily feel her ribs or spine, she needs to lose a little weight. If you can easily feel them and see them (remember, the last rib is okay to be seen in German Shepherds) then she is too thin and needs extra weight. Judging from the pics, I do not think that she is too thin at all.

Your best bet is to just call your breeder and ask his/her opinion. If it was a reputable breeder, s/he knows his/her lines and can easily tell you about your dog.

Michael, trust me when I say you can see if a pup is overweight. I've seen pups so fat they can't even walk. No, these were not mine. I would never let my dogs get that fat at any age. Overweight is overweight and if it's more than a few pounds, it is noticeable. I'm sorry about your goldie. Hip dysplasia isn't ALWAYS bad breeding but I'm guessing from your comment that it is with your puppy. It is a polygenic disease so even two OFA EXCELLENTS can throw an OFA SEVERE puppy. Good breeders just do their best to prevent that and guarantee the health in case something goes wrong. It's all they can do (along with fixing dogs that don't produce well) until there is a DNA test to show if a dog carries the genes for HD. Hopefully your next dog will have better health and I really hope your goldie has a long, happy life regardless of the bad hips. BTW Swimming really helped my dog with HD. Maybe it will make your pup feel better too.

She looks fine and you can not go by weight alone you have to judge her by how she looks and feels. You should easily be able to feel her ribs, if you can not cut back on her food a bit, your dog should be kept thin to keep her healthy.

ETA: looking at the second picture the dog looks a bit heavy but she is laying down. If you can not easily feel her ribs while rubbing her side(without pressing) then she is a bit overweight.

On the heavy side for 13 weeks.

Add: I wouldn't call her fat or anything, but she is a big girl.. Lots of bone.
