whats the best way to understand eiinstiens theory of relativity?

i hear many explanations, but my mind cannot seem to fathom, or grasp the concept. any help?

mostly the part about speed effecting time and space?

Buy, or borrow, a book called 'Einstein's Universe' - it's pretty basic, which is what most of us need, but is really good at explaining all the concepts. By the way, relativity is mostly about light & speed - so don't worry about stuff like e=mc2!
