hm.. well try to talk to her and tell her that a specific type of music or band will not influence you
you have demonstrated that you are a smart and responsible young lady so you deserve those types of priviledges

When your mom is settled down and so are you, go and have a talk with her. Ask her why you can't listen to MCR, and give her all the reasons why you can. Say it in a nice way though. Like a normal talk. The nicer the more persuasive. If she still says no, control yourself and maybe find a different band. But as long as you talk to her well and get the facts straight she might have a good reason. The most important part is to control your temper (not saying you don't). And trust me, I kno what your dealing with. Everyone has at least once gone through it. What can I say....moms....well..best of luck!

It's not the greatest band anyway. It's not the end of the world, theres about a million other bands out there. Find something different to listen to, or just listen to it when your Mums not around.

Parents who worry over their children are GOOD parents. However alot of this has to do with trust. After you have calmed down and she seems over it, go to her and ask her why she feels you aren't to listen to the music. Bring with you some lyrics and show her that it's not what she thinks despite what she is hearing. Remind her of the kind of child she has; the one who gets A's in school, who doesn't experiment with drugs, who stays out of trouble but wants some freedom as well. If she still doesn't like it then you shouldn't get upset. Respect her choice as a parent and hopefully in time she will see your maturity and change her mind. Parents want to protect their children even if it is from music that they feel is inappropriate. I hope this helps.

If she is not letting you listen to MCR because you have been acting up ask her what you can do to make it up to her and regain your privlages. If shes not letting you listen because of the lyrics or something then respect her judgement. mother knows best :) odds are, if you go against her, she'll find out and punish you more and not trust you. good luck, God bless

You have to respect the wishes of your mother.Listening to some piece of music is not that important than a loving cordial relations with Mom.Musical pieces which are very enticing today may turn out a bore after sometime.Your Mom is going to remain your Mom all her life.
You may avoid asking her the reason for her embargo. She may be associating some bitter memories with it which may not be easy for her to explain and she might feel embarrassed.

That is not fair on what your mother said and did to you. She told away something from you without explaining what you did wrong. You are being punished for no reason. You need to ask her seriously why did she do this to you. The band seem to be very important to you and if you ask her, she might tell you and you can explain to her your story. As a result, you might get it back.

Respectfully ask her why she feels that way. I respect that my daughter wants to have an open dialog with me. I hope that she will do you the same favor. Listen to why she made that decision. Ask her to listen to the band if you believe that she is mistaken. Ultimately, you must obey your mother's rules though. Good Luck.

As the others said, ask your Mom about the reasonings behind her decision.

However, if she stands by it, as others said, there are many bands and songs out there that you could adventure to, I have a wide collection of songs, and none of them are MCR :)

But thats me

Maybe your mom sees you as a little girl and doesn't understand that tastes change. Today I like this mexican rock band, Jaguares and I started liking them for two years but in the beginng, my dad brought me two CDs but sometimes it seemed that he didn't like me listening the band. This band doesn't curse or have dark lyrics and its a calmer rock and I was 20 at the time. I believe it is becuase I grew up on more traditional music like rancheras and tex-mex. At the time of Selena's death I was 10 and listened to her music all the time and wore t shirts with here picture. One day my dad made a remark that I didn't listen her music anymore because i was too caught up with Jaguares, owning 2 tee shirts of the band. Thats when I realized that maybe he's just dissapointed that his little girl is changing. This also has to do with that I listened to that music as a teenager because I was in mariachi to senior year and my dad didn't want me to listen to anything else. When I got out of the band, I took advantage of the freedome to rebel with music and listen to Jaguares but took guitar lessons their song and again my dad made me listen to tradition music becuase the man who taught me was old and only knew rancheras but in my room I listened to Jaguares. I stopped with the lesson and my dad learned to accept that I like that band now and is willing to take me to a concert. Maybe that could be going on or are you playing an instrument and maybe your mom doesn't want you listen to something else. Just do what I did, get your headphones and listen to MCR. Maybe your mom will have a change of heart just like my dad. Plus my dad never had a problem with my shirts. I got them when he learned accept this change.

Show her that you can handle it. Make promises and do everything that she wants you to do. Prove to her that you can listen to the band by doing more than what she asked for =]
