Here's some comfort for you.
The next 20 people you come across that you've known a while, other than your family and close friends, list in your head which ones bash others for their beliefs. What you'll probably find is that almost all of them are respectful. The fact is that most people are respectful of others' beliefs.
The thing is, the trouble makers, the extremists, the hurtful people, are the ones who get on the news and the ones who bark the loudest on sites like this and with spray paint on walls and such.
As for wars being started over Gd, that's a myth. Religion bashers like George Carlin like to say that most wars have been faught over Gd. The fact is, that is simply not historically correct. List all the wars you can think of. Pelopenesian (ancient Greek) wars? Faught over territory. Crusades? Faught over Gd, based on who should have control over Jerusalem, but after the first couple crusades they were just over greed. All those dozens and dozens of revolts and civil wars in Europe over the centuries? Faught over power. The French Revolution? A response to oppression of the people by a greedy aristocracy. The American Revolution? Ditto. War of 1812? Civil War? Spanish-American War? WWI? WWII? Korean War? Vietnam? None of them were faught about Gd.
Israel and the Palestinians? That's a battle over territory and power and fair treatment and such. Some Muslims may use words like infedels but most aren't fighting Israel over that and Israel, Jews in general, don't care what religion the rest of you practice as long as you don't interfere with our practice.
etc.
I for one don't divide the world so much by Jew or Palestinian or gentile, White or Black, American or not. Divide the world by people who are good to others and people who aren't. it sounds like that's already what you want to do. Just set that example and encourage it and don't worry about the bashers except to occassionally respectfully prove them for the idiots they are.

I just come here for the fun. I couldn't care less about what religion people choose. I see it as this- I don't drink, so sometimes I go to a bar or a party, watch people drink and then see how stupid they act when they get a few in them: strange analogy but same principle.

it incredibly is human nature to shelter ourselves and our ideals while they are puzzled. i don't think all of us could have the the terrific option to enforce their ideals onto others. I even have many buddies from all walks of existence and that i admire their ideals as they admire mine. i will respond to any questions while somebody asks me why i don't think interior the Christian God. i will additionally not tolerate somebody putting me down in simple terms as a results of fact i don't think an analogous issues they do. we are all on earth mutually and it might possibly not remember what somebody's race, intercourse, faith or sexual orientation is. in simple terms as a results of fact somebody does not have self assurance interior an analogous issues you do does not make that guy or woman decrease than you.

Because subs are the only real truth, and all other lunchtime sandwiches are false foodstuffs. It is my mission in life to convert you to the truth of the sub, or you will experience horrible nasty things after you die. Plus, people who like burgers are stupid and can't see the glory of the sub.

It isn't belief that is the problem. It is action.
If everyone kept their beliefs to themselves and took no action influenced by or in support of those beliefs, then one one would have cause to act against them. But, that isn't possible, it it?
You are really pleading for pacifism -- that just ain't the way human beings are built.
At best we have to build tolerance into the law and browbeat everyone under the law to follow it in practice as well as in theory.

because everyone feels they have the right answer.
and they have to make others feel the same way they do. i guess it's just human nature. one of my best friends has opposite beliefs from me, and we don't fight about it ever. it's a non issue in our friendship. just like how my friends and i who do share the same beliefs don't talk about it. it's still a non issue.

people that don't understand then don't respect which in-turn leads to not respecting the person because they then fear them because it is not seen as normal to them. live and let live if we could only learn to agree to disagree.
