That depends a lot on what you want to do, what your family situation is, and what your long term goals are. If you enlist in the Navy, you could spend a lot of time at sea (away from family). Army, Navy, Coast Guard, and NOAA offer different trade skills if you wish to learn a trade that you can carry over to a civilian career; you aren't going to get nuclear training anywhere but the navy, but Coast Guard might be better if you are interested in law enforcement. If you want to make the military a career, carefully consider what environment and what trade skill you wish to have for the next 20 years. Talk to recruiters from each of the branches. Find out which one suits you best.

Well if its just navy & army, I guess its a cross of do you like boats, or do you like land bases most likely getting into some action army. Both are good & which ever you decide will be great. In the navy theirs a lot of tradition & theirs the whole entire being on a boat for long periods of time. But than again you could go SEAL & be elite. Were as you could go army & there is countless things you could do. You could go SF or ranger in the army if the SOF is your thing, & maybe even one day get into DELTA force & then you would hardcore elite only matched by DEVGRU of the navy. Either way its up to you but in my opinion I say army.

What type of uniforms do you like better? Do you like the dungarees? Or do you like wearing camouflage? Do you you want easier basic training? If you do, than the Navy is for you. If you want to go into infantry and fight on the front lines, the Army is for you.

By the way; my nephew was interested in joining the Navy, but he went into the Marines instead, and he loves it!

My father served in the Air Force during both the Korean and Vietnam wars- he's got some memories that he cherishes, and others he doesn't talk about, but overall I think he really liked the Air Force.

Well flip a coin then.
heads Navy
tails is Army
The two services are night and day man. Check all 5 of the services out. Make a day of it. That is what I did, 16 yrs ago.

So between Navy and Army.

Army you will get deployed a lot to forward areas.

Navy you will get deployed a lot to sit in the middle of the ocean.

That is the only real difference in the services is how your deployments will go. It all depends now which you would rather put up with.

Well that depends on what you want to do. If you don't want the USMC or USAF, then that leaves the USN or USA. The Navy and Army are polar opposites. So without more info we can't really help you with an answer.
