everyone should hate the golden compass? This movie is based on a trilogy of books, the golden compass being the first book. The movie is VERY watered down from the first book and harmless BUT in the third book the author has little LYRA having sex with her little co-star. Isn't this author a pedophile? What type of mind would write about children having sex?

These books are CHILDREN'S BOOKS. Do you all have children or do you just like this author because he is an atheist?

I'm trying to inform the world. I thought everyone would want to know before they purchased their children the books...

Wait...what? That's not exactly uncommon in novels...obviously it's not kids book stuff, but it's not like any author who has ever expressed an underage character's sexuality is a pedophile....

Edit: But, yeah...this is kind of strange. I didn't know about this before, so thanks for the info. And, for the sake of other people who did not read your post well enough...the last book, the Amber Spyglass, is the book with this scene it...the Golden Compass does not...

Ehm. Pedophile?

Not even close. It's a fictional narration. Just as other books / movies are.

First off, take a look at your own Holy Bible. I've read it; I know the text. Murder, rape, suicide, physical pain unto others, etc. If you think that The Golden Compass; a simple movie, is bad, what about a world-wide manuscript that's claimed to be TRUE?

Not everyone should hate it.

Thus far, the mojority hate it because some feel it's atheistically inclined. But really, what's wrong with that? Who's to say that EVERY book or movie ever produced must present Christianity?

If I go to a hill in my city, and place a large Cross at the time, it would be perfectly fine with the residents, and the law wouldn't do a thing.

But what if I placed a pentagram there? Society would make a fuss, and I'd be forced to remove it.

But in reality, why should any symbol, which of course represent religions, be accepted more than any other? Why should any religion itself be accepted over any other?

They shouldn't.

although the author is an atheist (used lightly because true atheists do not hate god or Christean's they are ambivalent about them) highly doubt he is a pedophile based on that, after all Stephen king did the same thing in the book "it"

Do you have a real question or are you just telling us what to do?

"I'm trying to inform the world. I thought everyone would want to know before they purchased their children the books..."

Why? When do you plan to tell your children about sex, when they're 21?

Two children having sex is not an indication of pedophilia. If you don't watch the movie, then don't.

I heard that the children in the movie are told to kill the God in the movie. I also heard that it is an athiest that made the movie to portray the heavenly God. thats why im not watching it. and if kids are having sex that is sick.

I don't think the sex would actually be focussed upon in the movie so much.

Have you even read the Bible?!

It's 10 times worse. Should we ban that too?

"hate" is a strong word. I don't think I care enough to hate it.
