For the past couple of years I've been getting these dizzy spells. I'm not sure how long someone can live with a brain tumor before it becomes obvious, so could it be anything else? When I go into these dizzy spells (usually after i stand up, or start walking) I can smell this weird... well, smell. Kind of like iron? and my vision slowly starts going black from the outside edges inward. I always hear this buzzing when it happens and more than a handful of times I actually have passed out for about 5 seconds. But not always. After I wake up my tongue tingles, but that goes away after a few seconds too. I'm 17 years old and as far as I know healthy. I eat right, I'm a healthy weight. I went to go see my doctor about it but he said it was only my blood pooling and then rushing back? He seemed to brush it off, but I'm still concerned. Normally blood doesn't leave parts of your body completely, right? Could it be anything serious? Does anyone else expirience this?

I had the onset of symptoms related to a brain tumor 12 years ago and had part of it removed. Seizures related to tumors can come in all forms; from something as slight as a strange feeling (auras), to smells and seeing dots or "fuzz", up to the more serious fainting (usually comes with incontinence), and the ones that come with convulsions and spasms. I'd say get a second opinion if you do not feel comfortable with the answers you've gotten thus far.

i had a friend that did the same thing....he started smelling weird smells they sent him for a MRI...it turned out to be cancer...he did the chemo, radiation, and some brain surgery...he got better for a few years and it came back...it eventually killed him about 2 yrs ago...he was only in his 30's when this started and by the time he was in his early 40's it got him....I say DO get a second opinion. Did u mention it to the dr. about smelling weird smells ? that should have been a trigger for the dr. that something is not right. go back to the dr. and demand an MRI ...RIP Dale !!

If primarily when standing up quickly, it is due to having low blood pressure and your blood doesn't get up to your brain quickly enough. You are fainting and all the symptoms -- vision disturbance, smell, tingling are consistent with fainting.

Try getting up more slowly. See your doctor again if you continue to be worried about it.
