I have a lot of toned muscle, but I have quite a bit of flab on top! I hate exercising, but I'm really really going to try to bust my butt. In the mean time, what are some other ways to aid fat burning?

Do you have a membership to a gym? Cardio exercise 4 times a week for at least 20 minutes at a time is a great fat burner! I prefer the elliptical cross trainer, because there is low impact and it's easy on the knees. Most gyms have built in TV screens and you can watch cable, a DVD, or listen to a CD while you're working out.

If you don't have a gym, make a habit of walking fast, running, or riding a bike 30 minutes or more 4 times a week. If you have any type of knee or ankle problems, the elliptical cross trainer is the best.

Watch what you eat as well. Eat protein as soon as possible after working out to help rebuild the muscle. Drink lots of water - especially before and after working out. Stay away from sot drinks, coffee, tea, etc. if possible.

You say you are already toned. Do you work out with weights on a regular basis? If not, it's a good idea to do so in order to keep your muscle tone. As you age, your muscle tone tends to slip away and saggy skin appears in its place. Lots of reps with lower weight will help keep you toned.

Exercise can get either boring or addictive. Try to do different things so you don't get bored. If you use the cross trainer, use a different pattern every day. If you walk/run/bike, take a different route. Some people are more motivated getting a friend to go along. However, if that friend quits you have to go on. I prefer exercising alone so I can do it as long as I want and not have to wait on someone else.

Good luck!!

watch the kind of foods you eat. people today tend to add a lot of unhealthy things to foods that are otherwise healthy in order to make them taste better. Eat foods that don't have a lot of added butter and salt. Also, watch your carb and sugar intake. These foods bulid fat the fastest. Eat more fruit and vegetables. (Yes, fruit has sugar, but the natural sugar is better for you than the sugar in cake and candy)

Try the zero carbohydrate diet, exercise not required. Only if you are young and healthy, it's hard on you. See Dr. Atkins,
