Oh gosh no. It's like a baby, they cry/mew for many different reasons from "I'm bored" to "I want out" to "Feed me now!" Since you have kitten it'll take some more time to hear the different mews but you'll realize there is a special one for "Pet me" or "Attention"

Besides, It's a cat. If they want to be held she/he will probably jump into your lap or on your shoulder. She/he will let you know when they are in need of attention. Promise.

If you ever want a moment's rest, no.
My cat (my first cat) is spoiled rotten. I always picked him up or attended to his every need whenever he meowed, and now he knows that all he has to do is cry long enough, and he'll get what he wants. If I had ignored him when he was younger, he wouldn't think the meowing would work so well. Now he wakes me up at 4 in the morning to give him food, stands at the sink meowing for me to turn it on, meows when he wants attention, etc. I love him, but he is a big time consumer!

No..my cat meows when he's hungry, when he wants me to open a door, when he needs water, or if he wants to know where I am. Don't pick him up all the time. Just call it, and if it comes running to you then stops you know what it wants. But if it doesn't..try giving him water, food, changing the litter box, and if that doesn't work..then maybe he does want attention. But if you pick it up every time, then you will have to pick him up every time he meows or else he will never stop. Good luck with your new kitten =D

I made that mistake with my cat. When he was a kitten, I would pick him up whenever he meowed. Now he's fully grown, and is constantly walking around our feet, meowing until someone picks him up.

No, cats meow for various reason, doesn't mean they need to be help all the time... I have lived with cats all my life, and if I picked them up everytime they meowed, I would have no life what so ever... lol If they meow a lil just let them, if it gets extreme, call their name, sometimes they jus wanna know where ur at... Thats what mine do alot, and after calling their name, they shut up, and come running to see me. lol silly cats

don't !! that's the worse thing you can do. It sound cruel but every time you're picking it up you are showing that you are reacting to its meowing and cats are smart enough to make that connection so you'll end up with a never ending meowing cat that will not stop until you pick it up.

the two one in all my boy cats try this. they may be in a ineffective sleep, hear the water working, PRY the door open with their paws, and that they the two take a seat on the washing room sink meowing at me. My center cat, could even bypass so a procedures as to stick his head interior the curtain and meow that way, like he wasnt getting my interest sitting on the sink! It never fails, each tub, or bathe, I open the curtain while i'm completed, and atleast one cat is sitting there checking in on me. i think of she loves you, and not water, and he or she's apprehensive approximately what you're doing in there.

No because then she'll learn that you do that. Then it will be near impossible to break her of that habit. If you ignore her, she'll stop on her own. I know it's hard but trust me, you'll regret it later if you don't ignore the behavior.
