It's fine once in a while. It has more protein, so as an only food, it would really put stress on his kidneys over time.

No, cat food will not hurt your dog. Dog food has a better balance of nutrients for a dog than cat food, so he should not keep eating cat food instead of dog food. But if he just broke open a bag of cat food and ate some, nothing will happen to him. Both kinds of food are made out of meat, so any animal that can digest meat, including you, could eat it without a problem.

Yes.
We have 4 cats and a dog, and the cats have to eat their treats (wet food) on the counter or the dog will get into it. Recently the cats kept knocking their food dish off the counter and the dog would be right there to eat what was spilled. It happened so much that the dog got very sick (listlessness, diarrhea) and we had to take her to the vet.
No more treats for the cats, for now, anyway.

Some dogs are allergic to cat food. Some of them will loose their hair and throw up. Dont worry these are rare cases but can happen. Its been some time now since my dog Dolly was sick and the Veterinarian told my mom to get her cat food. It seems like cat food has richer proteins and tastier flavors of meat. If your dog doesnt react negativelly to the food, you might as well start getting him cat food which is cheaper

They are not supposed to eat it but mine steals the cat food all the time, he infact pushes the poor cat out the way and gobbles it up but he has had no bad side affects but now i feed the cat on top of the tumble dryer so the greedy dog cannot eat it!
I once fed the dog abit of cat food coz I had no dog food left (ohh the shame of it) and i felt very guilty but he loved it

Andy L said it all. Very occasional won't harm your dog, a big no no for frequent feeding of cat food.

cat food has way too much protein in it. all pet foods are specifically designed to meet your pet's needs.
if a dog eats cat food, they will get diarrhea and possibly get dehydrated. additionally, cats cannot eat dog food because there is not enough nutrients in dog food for them. they can get malnurished and possibly die.

cat food is harmless but dog food has the necessary things a dog needs so make sure he still gets his food. maybe feed the cat in another room or up high - like on a counter - so the dog can't get to it.

Not at all really. My cat eat my dog food and vice versa. My dog also eats my cats poop cause apparently its a delicacy to dogs.

No. I had a dog that would turn it's nose up at dog's food. He'd sniff it and walk away. He would only eat cat's food and he lived to a ripe old age.
