It is getting more popular for men to wear engagement rings, my cousin has one. Although it is not nessersarily a new thing my Dad also had one and he has been married nearly 30 years.
The man and woman both wear it on their third finger of their left hand (the one next to the pinkie :) ) this is also where the wedding ring goes.

For all those people who swear they have never seen a man wear one, how do you know? What does a male engagment ring look like? It may just be a normal ring, with the meaning of an engagment ring! I will be getting engaged in sept 2008 and I cannot wear a solid band ring (my knuckles swell) so mine will probably not look "traditional" either, even for a woman.

I have never seen men with engagement rings. If a man wore an engagement ring, they would think he is married. Girls wear there rings on the left hand, fourth finger.

You don't wear a ring "in a hand", you wear it "on a finger".
Traditionally a woman wears an engagement ring on her ring finger (next to little finger/pinky) of her left hand.
Traditionally men don't wear engagement rings, but it is an option (and one that I took up!). Most would also go for ring finger of left hand, but he could wear it elsewhere if he wanted! As could the woman if she wanted!

Engagement rings are worn on the left hand. They are usually removed before the wedding and then replaced after the wedding bands have been placed on the left hand.

normally men dont wear engagement rings but persume it is the same as the ladies which is left hand the last finger next to the little finger which is for christians etc but for muslim etc the wedding ring finger is the right hand last finger next to the little finger
some men carry their promise ring on a necklace instead

My fiance is wearing his engagement ring on his ring finger on his left hand - same as me.
He has an engagement ring that will become his "work" wedding ring when we get married, he has a much nicer wedding ring for non-working days.
