That is correct. The floating means there is air in the egg more than there is in a fresh-laid egg. The older the egg, the more air. Or, it could be that there is a fine crack in the egg and the air got in.

But either way, the sinking egg is the best and freshest.

If an egg sinks to the bottom it is still good,if an egg floates it means that it is bad don't use it! ;-)
