If you're a bear, it's called hibernation.
If you're a human, it's called Seasonal Affective Disorder, or 'Winter Depression'.

I'd say not hibernating, although that's what I call it sometimes too! The days are shorter and the weather is colder... nothing sounds better than sitting around wrapped in a blanket or curled up in your bed. Since you're not as active, your body doesn't need as many calories because it's not burning as many.
BTW - I just read back through some of the posts that came through while I was typing. I can't believe how nasty some people are. I don't think you asked a stupid question at all!

You may be suffering from a Vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D is produced when the skin is exposed to ultraviolet light. Since people tend to stay indoors during the winter more than in the summer, this is a common occurance at this time.
You may want to try going to a tanning booth once or twice for a few minutes at a time and seeing how you feel afterwards. The exposure to the UV light of the tanning booth may help boost your vitamin D intake.
Check out the link below for more information about vitamin D.

You didn't mention what part of the world you live in. If you live in the US, do you live in the Northern reaches where there is considerably less daylight during the winter months? Seasonal Affective Disorder is fairly common the further away from the equator you get. Some people get considerable relief and energy by using full-spectrum lamps.
Good luck.

Nope, people do not hibernate. They do however become more lethargic in the winter. "Winter blues" affect everyone. Nothing to worry about, nice shot of rye and a good movie helps.

Are you an active person in the summer months and then seem to slow down in the winter months? People who are active outdoors or even mildly active more in the summer time can become tired and slow in the winter months because of lack of activity. Sometimes they don't even know it, its just works out. Could just be "winter blues" or "cabin fever."

Sometimes when you start sleeping more than usual it can depress you. It can depress your appetite and make you feel even more tired than you were before you slept for 10 hours. Instead of napping try taking a walk.
