not the super economy ones like first choice, a couple of friends went there and got their hair messed up. My mom and I are pretty pro at hair, i can communicate with her on style and she can cut it pretty good, as in evened out, but i want a different haircut.
should i get a mall cut, the average-priced ones at about 20 bucks?

It really just depends. I found one of the best hairdressers ever at the mall and for a trim they are usually fine, but some do suck. Do you have someone you can ask for a recommendation? If not I usually call and say do you have someone who is really good at xyz (layers, long, short whatever you are wanting) Mostly I go in thinking, it is hair... it will grow back, lol
*** Also if you go, try to go first thing in the morning. You don't want someone who has been on their feet all day making crappy tips to cut your hair.

Yes and no. I found a really great hairstylist at one of those malls and I kept going to her until one day, she was gone. I was so upset because she was that good and knew how my hair behaved. I tried others, but they just didn't get it. I cut and color my own hair, so if I mess it up, it's my own fault. I also learned the hard way never go and get your hair cut by a hairstylist that is going through a bitter divorce. My 2 inches off the bottom wound up being the same hairstyle Olivia Newton John wore during her "Physical" days.

Its not the store, its the person that cuts your hair. Some of them are more into the traditional cuts and others are into the more extreme styles. Any hair stylist can do the haircut you point at in a magazine but you gotta remember the haircut you pick out might not be the best for your shape.

A lot of people at mall salons are just out of beauty school and aren't very experienced. Since you want an entirely new style, I recommend going somewhere else.

truth is that you get what you pay for. However not all cheaper salons are bad but you have to shop around. I used to see a stylist at the mall and she was great. I spent around $45 each time for a hair cut. I won't go to the places that only charge about $20

Definitely , the haircutters at the mall are not the always the good ones. Aside from that, they are a bit expensive but I think we know it because they are paying high rents fort he space. Try the haircutters of known names in your area because they are considered as hair boutiques....

Yes they'd be good their barbers with a 2 year degree in beauty school. The only thing though is that malls attend to be a bit more expensive mainly the rental fees for the company are much higher.

Salons in the malls, from my experience, are all about getting you in, cutting you as quickly as possible, and getting you the heck out. No real attention to detail or to the wants of the customer.
