The website http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_terrorism defines "Islamic terrorism" as:

It says that Hamas practices "Islamic terrorism," but I (an American member of no organized religion) thought that Hamas' aim was the retrieval of the land that they feel was taken from them.

Of all of the violence that practitioners of Islam are involved in on the earth, how much of it do you say is BECAUSE those that they are fighting against don't declare themselves to be Muslims?

I think most of them are fighting against injustice, whether it is just perceived or real. They find moral justification in the Qu'ran to make their war holy, but are a minority of the population there.
