In my state and county, our Police officers don't have a certain quota to meet for writing speeding tickets, although people tend to think that all of the time. Does your department have a required limit of written tickets, if so, how many and what do they have to be for?

My large city department does not have a quota. We deal with crime instead.

Quotas are illegal. Most department's only have activity standards. They want you out stopping cars, tickets are warnings are up to the officer.

A popular joke on that topic is when someone asks an officer if they have a quota and the officer replies, "We used to have a quota, but now we are allowed to write as many tickets as we want."

In the State of Texas the quota system is illegal. The officers can write as many tickets as they want or dont want, but it is not legal here.

Quotas are illegal. I hope they never get that law pulled because I don't want to have to write tickets.

It's a common held belief everywhere it seems, as is 'arrests mean promotion', all misguided.
