The new Virginia class submarines are reportedly the most advanced fast-attack submarines in the world. The Russian Akulas are considered to be good non-American submarines.
The Ohio class SSBNs are considered the most sophisticated submarines; some have started conversion to guided missile submarine, replacing their 24 Trident missiles with 154 Tomahawk cruise missiles.

Best for what?
The Tridents (Ohio class) are by far the best deterrent. The old saying is that if one of them broke off and became their own country, they would be the third most nuclear capable country.
For hunter/killer ops, the LA class, second flight. The second flight has external vertical launch tubes for tomahawk missiles that are not part of the first flight. They are very quiet.
