I'm not sure if Bungie well do a Halo 4. I think they might try a whole new idea for a shooter (which I would enjoy) maybe even something that can use on all consoles. I would think if that doesn't go anywhere (not have the success of Halo) then they might come back to it? My other thought is, we all know that Call of Duty 4 is better Multiplayer then Halo 3 was. I wonder if Bungie well give it another try (make the best Multiplayer game?) Does anybody know what Bunigie is working on next?

What I was more thinking is if Bungie wanted to go back and be king of Multiplayer/online gaming! Because COD4 is beating Bungie! I would think that they would want to develop something that would make thing king again!

Supposedly Halo 3 is the last "Halo", but Bungie is considering rereleasing and updated version of Marathon, which is on the same concepts, but set after halo 3. It's basically going to be a continuation of Halo with a different name. Bungie released marathon first but it was a flop so they may rerelease it after the success they've had from halo 3.

Bungie has said Halo 3 would be the last (not counting Halo wars which is not really the same as its a RTS and not an FPS). But given the insane amount of money Halo 3 made, it wouldn't suprise me if they changed their minds on that one.
Let's not forget that Bungie is splitting off from Microsoft. It will be inetersting to see how it all shakes out and if there will be a Halo 4. But for now the official word is no.

Maybe there will be a halo 4 but probably not for a while. The thing Bungie is working on next is Halo Wars, you can find videos of it on youtube. it would be awesome if they made another shooter that had nothing to do with halo.

Yes, there'll almost certainly be another Halo FPS game. After all, you don't release a game that makes $30mil in its first few days, and then just walk away! You milk it for all it's worth!
Probably won't hear anything until mid-2008, with the game coming out in 2009, if not later.
Right now, they're busily working on Halo Wars, which is a real-time strategy type game based in the Halo universe.
