the other weekend at a club and we exchanges numbers and he was texting me and then he just suddenly stopped, left it a few days then text him asking what he was up to etc and he never text back! im not the kind of girl to pursue a man like that so i left it and didnt think much of it.anyway nearly 2 weeks later he texts me out out of the blue with no explaination to why he hasn't got in contact with me....saying what have i been up to and when am i going to let him take me out... i like him and i dont know what to say should i ask why he hasnt been in contact with me? should i go on a date with him or should I just leave it?

You can let him get away with that impolite behavior once without it being a big deal.
But while I almost never suggest that a woman play hard to get, make a man work, etc., I think this is one of the rare exceptions. Be easy to get the first date with, but if he disappears on you like that ever again, criticize and/or punish him for it.
