IMO the BMI is worthless.

for those that have a high amount of muscle mass the BMI is highly inaccurate and is not applicable. body fat analysis on the other hand does everything that the BMI does and more. the sole purpose of the BMI is to address the health risks that are associated with central obesity. unfortunately in the world that we live in today many people get offended by the mere mention of the word "fat". it is much easier for health professionals to take a simple height & weight measurement and tell a person/customer (yes health care is a business) that there body mass index is too high than to analyze the body composition and give an actual % of body fat.

personally I think it's one of the most rediculous things in the world. the health status is the last thing were information should be "sugar-coated" to protect a persons feelings, etc.

if they have a lot of muscle mass then they most likely are over 25 and thats ok because muscle weighs more than fat.

It depends how buff they are. The more muscle they have, the more they will weigh.
