I'm only 18, so I'm not even close to having kids, but i want to get a tattoo on my side. It'll start at my hip and go to about the bottom of my ribs or the middle of my ribs. if its just a vine and not like an actual picture, will it look horrible or real bad??

Here's a picture of it, with a few adjustments. http://www.flickr.com/photos/dawngrace/2083720303/

as far as a tattoo now and what it will look like after pregnancy only God knows. BUT i wouldn't have a tattoo on my sides until after pregnancy because i would hate to have a beautiful tattoo only to have it stretch out and look awful. i am holding off on my ribcage tattoo until after i have kids. some people are genetically lucky and when they get pregnant only their belly grows, other people grow all over and may never return to the way they were before.

All of your skin in that area will stretch during pregnancy. There are steps you can take during and after your pregnancy to help reduce damage to your tattoo. Look at your Mom, does she have a lot of stretch marks on her side and stomach? She will give you an idea of what will happen when you have a child.

I think Somebody got it right.

The tattoo looks good, but I'd be afraid you'd get some stretch marks right in the middle of it. I think it would be best to either get it on your back, or wait until after you've had kids.

It depends on your body type and it might look elegant if done by the right professional
