Basically everyone can raise both their eyebrows, but why can some people raise one? When one eyebrow goes way up and the other stays while you kinda squint that eye. I can do it with my left eyebrow only, but my friend can't do either. I've been able to do it forever. Is there a way to teach yourself to or does it just come naturally to some people?

Raising your eyebrows can be tricky for some people, as weird as that sounds.
It's in the muscular make-up of your face. For some people, it's easier, and others not so much.
There are ways to teach yourself to raise one eyebrow at a time. It's the same concept as modeling. Sitting in front of a mirror trying to push your facial muscles to be more expressive is not unheard of in the modeling profession. I don't see why someone can't do the same for raising their eyebrows. :]

This sounds funny, but I taught myself when I was younger to raise my left eyebrow only. I was like 9 probably. I held my right eyebrow in place and raised my left eyebrow over and over and over. After awhile, I think like a month, I could do it without hold the right one. I guess it strengthened my left one enough that I could raise it on it's own, or trained it or something. It worked....even if it was weird!

You can teach yourself, I have always been able to make one eyebrow go up a little bit, but when I was, like, 8 or 9, I taught myself how to raise it higher and higher. I basically just guided it to where I wanted it to go, and I moved my eyebrow like that once a day, and then I just got it =]. I'm not really this wierd... haha

It is a genetic trait (like a widows peak or the ability to roll your tongue).
Most of the women in my mom's family can raise one eyebrow (the left).
You can try to teach yourself, I taught myself how to do my right but "the look" is just not the same.
But, I raise my left eyebrow w/o even realizing it sometimes. For me, it is just a natural reaction to some things.

I think it comes naturally. I can only raise my right eyebrow by itself, not my left. My dad could alternate- I loved it when he would do that when i was a kid!
