Chihuahuas tend to get incredibly loyal to one person - to the extent where they won't even let other people near said person! They can be incredibly aggressive if not treated properly - I love chihuahuas but am always wary of new ones I meet. Not the type of dog to spoil!! I think off lead they tend to stick close to their owner, but it really depends. I don't think I would let a chihuahua offlead outside - they're too small!

I have a Shih Tzu/Chihuahua mix, but he has a bit of both personalities, plus every dog is different. His mother loooooooooves me insanely, and tends to stick to me anytime we're over. She's stuck outside all day, so when I visit, I insist on having her come in and take responsibility if she goes to the bathroom in the house. They were stupid enough to not even bother potty training her, just stuck her in the back yard... Ugh, sickening.

Anyhow, since I tend to socialize with the dog more than the actual owners, she clings to me like crazy. Not aggressive at all, but won't leave my side for diddly squat. She's very shy, but that's because she wasn't properly socialized.

As for my guy, he's the best of both worlds. INSANELY smart, picks up commands in about three repetitions. I'm definitely his one and only pack leader, but he's not aggressive or shy towards anyone else. In fact, he's rather outgoing.

All in all, my opinion is that any dog can be the perfect dog if trained the right way. End of story.

Well mine is really good...so I think I might be the wrong one to ask. Mine is great at horse shows, either on the lead or off, he will follow me around the house, yard...anything. He is not fixed currently, but he is not aggressive either. I've been really lucky with him. If you are looking for loyalty, I'll say that any dog can be a follower, but there are always the exceptions. Ones with stubborn streaks.

I'll try to post pics when I get home! I love to share my boys.

Chihuahuas are wonderful dogs! They're great big dogs in a very small package.

They can be trained to use a litter box for their potty, too.

BUT

You have to treat them as dogs - not as jewelry or allowed to snap at people.

That means going to obedience school, and all that important training - it's vital.

But if treated and trained properly I would have a chi in a heartbeat - and I already own a pit bull (who is a big mush).

I have a chihuahua and he is the best friend ever. Chihuahuas like to snuggle under blankets and be pet nonstop!! When I got my dog, I let everyone hold him so he could develop a better sense of people instead of being too clingy. Chihuahuas love love love their owner and they tend to get very territorial. You will have to watch out for that once in awhile. Once I was laying in bed and my boyfriend leaned over to kiss me goodbye and my dog snipped at him...just a protective thing. But to answer your question, yes, chihuahuas are great dogs, will follow you everywhere, and give you tons of kisses!

My daughter has a chihuahua and she wants to sit on a lap at all times. She picked one person to own for her favorite. She weighs about five pounds but thinks she is a rottweiler if a stranger comes near my daughter. She is a wonderful little dog.

They're loyal..
I used to have a chihuahua and she always follows me everywhere..
Same with my poodle...
he actually never leave my side..
My chihuahua sometimes get into barking at someone too much that she forget about following me..Happened only a few times thought.....maybe once or twice..
