It's not a good idea to warn that you are not going to tip if they cut you.. because then they won't do a good job.. and they will just hurry up and finish you. It is also not good to tip BEFORE the manicurist has finished. Tips are definitely good etiquette when you get your nails done.. but you are not obligated to tip. I won't let nail salons use that cuticle tool on my hands or feet because of cutting.. I tell them to skip it. Best Wishes!

I have worn acrylics for years, and I've only been cut once, and it was because the tool slipped. In myt state technicians are not allowed to cut anything except nails. I think you should ask the techs not to cut your cuticles anymore. They can be gently filed, which is what the techs do here. As far as not paying if they cut you, that's a risk you take when you let them cut your cuticles, so no, I don't think you can refuse to pay. You can refuse to tip. Tipping is always optional. I used to tip my old nail tech 20%, but at the place I go to now they don't allow tipping, and I swear I'm going to that nail place until I die just for that reason.

Ask them not to use the cuticle clippers. If they reach for them anyway, say it again. They can just use the cream and push them back instead.

You can't not pay if they cut you, that is a risk in getting nails, it does not spread disease either. I tip 20%

if you get any kind of service done like that you have to pay = if you're afraid of the risks, don't do it or do it your self
