I just scratched my car up pretty good. My current insurance coverage will have me pay 1000 before they pay for anything else. What if I get another insurance coverage from anotehr provider with a lower collision deductable. Will the new provider find out somehow? I caused the scratch because i was driving too close to a metal pole! Theres no police report

That would be fraud and yes they would find out. You could go to jail for that.

If you're caught (and as soon as the appraiser sees your car he/she will KNOW it was prior damage) then you could face charges, which will cost five times your deductible in legal fees, not to mention you will be canceled at once and you will be forced to purchase SR22 coverage at three times the rates you are paying.

When they find out and they will because some insurance companies will ask for pictures of the vehicle or they will ask to see it.

Even if they don't you really don't want to commit insurance fraud, steep fines and jail time.

What you want to do is insurance fraud -it is a crime. You could be prosecuted, if caught.

I don't recommend trying it.
