There is no currently used term - palotitus in medicine. The closest similar word commonly seen is parotitus- Parotitis is an inflammation of one or both parotid glands, the saliva-producing glands buried within each cheek. The parotid gland is the salivary gland most commonly affected by inflammation. Parotitis is most often caused by a bacterial infection of Staphylococcus aureus, but can result from viral infection, and other causes. The most common viral cause of parotitis is mumps.

This has nothing to do with arthritis.
