I live in a town of 4500 and we have about ten or twelve churches. We all get along and hold community events together and depend upon one another when needed. I don't think it is a testimony to how we don't get along as much as it is a testimony to the differences in what we were raised in and feel comfortable with.

It also stand for christians like me who do not like congregations with more than 500 members which:
* do not know each other,
* do not have time to develop a friendship relation with their leaders because they are allways busy attending others,
* no one miss us if we fail to attend by a period of time.

Besides, it will benefit those left behind to recognize that something has happened, when the rapture comes and you start to notice thatt here are a lot of buildings empty in your town, that many of the buildings are churches, and the others are the houses or stores from the people who believed in Jesus.

That is a possibility. Another one; that reflects different levels of growth. Another one; the division of Christianity in America today due to not 'cleaning out' some of Satan's deviations to God's word (1 Peter 5:8, Eph.6:12).

BUT, if there was only one church people like you would swear that was proof of mind control.
There are a variety of churches because Christianity allows believers to follow different beliefs.
Some prefer to worship on Saturday; some prefer to praise and worship with just their voices. Others get wild and crazy while others are stiff as boards.

Proof that God does in fact exist; He allows for freedom of expression, and He does not require everyone to be exactly the same as everyone else.

Not only that, one church's "essentials" of salvation will be very different from another, yet all supported by selected scriptures. In other words, they can't even agree what the bible says. It is no surprise though. The books of the bible were written by superstitious men based on third a fourth generation hearsay accounts.

Yes it does say alot about differing Christian views of how one gets to God (assuming there is one). FYI there may also be 3 Jewish Temples as there are at least 3 different groups I can think of off hand...there probably more but I d/k them. PEACE & Happy Holidays!

Not necessarily
If they do not talk to each other or talk against each other, well, yes.
My catholic parish gets along with and has many projects together with other christian and non Christian groups

Having many rival and antagonistic denominations does say that we do not necessarily take the call to unity very strongly

No it just shows that people feel more comfortable worshiping one way compared to another. That is why there is more than one church per denomination.

some people like small congregations.

that same small town probably has 15 or more bars - does that mean drinkers can't get along either?

No. It stands for different people with different views of God and the Bible. Wait a minute. I thought we were all brainwashed! Are you implying believers exercise free thought?
