My dogs always bark if they hear someone talking outside or hear someone they don't know talking in my house but they will never bark if they hear voices on the radio or the tv or the answering machine. Why not?

My little Chi/Rat Terrier will bark if someone closes a car door a block away. That will set off the two Pits and maybe the Beagle. They totally ignore the TV except if someone rings a door bell on TV. Then they all go off barking at my front door. I don't know why they do it.

mine doesnt the same thing, i think its because they know where the voices from the TV and Radio are coming from. especially if they've grown up around a TV or Radio thats on alot. heck, sometimes my baby girl sits and watches TV with me so I know she knows where thats coming from.

He's not overly nervous and he's smart enough to know the difference.

Be glad you have a good dog.
