I have a 14 or 15 wk old pit puppy that was given to me. He seemed fine when I 1st got him 2 wks ago, but since then he has started to throw up, has loose stool(VERY STINKY), he has bad gas, and sleeps most of the time. I was told he was dewormed once and will need to be dewormed again, but I dont know when he was dewomed so I dont know when I can do it again without hurting him. Also I was told he hasn't had any shots yet. Does anyone know what could be wrong with him? Is it worms? What can I do to help him?

Well I made an appointment for him with the vet on Sat. and now he seems fine. The last time he had loose stool or threw up was 2 days ago. He is eating better(bigger appetite). The only issue now is bloody stool and it's not all the time...it's only occasionally. What's that supposed to mean?

You can safely deworm with pyrantel pamoate once a week for a few weeks. Fenbendazole is commonly used for three consecutive days.
The symptoms you describe sound more like coccida to me though.

Dogs can carry several types of worms. Each type of worm takes a different wormer.
Hook worms cause a dog to vomit and have very loose stools mixed with blood or just all blood. Of course this is the last stage before death, so treatment is needed immediately. Hookworms are tiny about 1/4th inch long in a c shape or hook like found in fecal matter or around the dogs rectum.
But it kinda sounds like your dog could have Parvo Virus. Is the vomit greenish? Does it try to drink water but wobble and fall? Your dog is 3 months old?
Tapeworms look like a piece of flat rice or if alive a piece of spaghetti with little break lines. Tapeworms are carried by fleas.
It would be better to take your pet to the vet. If money is a issue, go to a search engine and locate a on line vet who you can chat with.
Finally your dog could have eaten a piece of plastic and it is wound up in the intestines. Maybe the red plastic off a piece of bologna?

You need to get your puppy to a vet right away. Yes it could just be a bad case of worms or another parasite like coccidia.
However, you said your pup has not had any vaccines, is throwing up, sleeping a lot, and has fowl smelling diarrhea....these are also classic signs of Parvo. Parvo can be deadly if not diagnosed and treated right away!
Call a vet or go to the Emergency vet TODAY and yest take a stool sample with you if you can.
Good luck and I hope it is just a bad case of worms!

Ok, So I would take ur dog to the vet, get a full exam, they can tell ya whats wrong, and if he needs another dewormer, get it from the vet. Others dont work very well, and can hurt a dog in the long run... I would just get the full exam and shot from the vet...
Good luck

Make a vet appointment now!! A 14 week old puppy should not have any of these traits you are talking about. As a responsible owner you need to be providing proper medical attention for your pet. He can no drive himself to the vet and say, "Yo doc, deworm me, wouldya?"

You need to have a vet appointment for vaccines and bring a fecal sample. He could have coccidia or any other internal parasites.
Really, a vet is the way to go!!!

Yeah, I'd say go to the vet, get him checked out! That's not normal... Usually, the vet will know weather or not to get him more shots!
hope that helped somewhat.

Please take him to the vet--those sound like symptoms of a very serious viral infection that could actually kill your puppy if let go. Also, take a fecal sample with you if you can.
