i bought a digital camera a few days ago, and have tried and tested it, and it's fair to say i HATE it. the pics it takes are awful, and the flash is really really bright which means everything comes out looking so much whiter than it really is.

there is no fault with the camera and i'm hoping to take it back at exhange or get my money back ( i bought it from asda). do you know if it would be possible to do this. i still have all the packaging, manuals, everything that was included and there is no marks/damages to it. the only thing being that the box has been opened.

dont wanna humiliate myself by trying to return it tomorrow if they wont take it back and give me my money.

any ideas? thanks!

Look at the store's return policy. But if it's only been a few days, they have to either take it back or exchange it. Stores are used to such things, so don't be embarrassed or intimidated.

You can always send the camera back to the manufacturer. If the camera is under warranty, they won't charge you for the repair. If it's not, they'll charge you for parts and labor. They'll contact you first to let you know either way, and they won't go through with a repair without your go-ahead. Usually they won't go through with it if it's uneconomical to repair (i.e., it costs the same to buy a new camera, or it costs more to repair than what the camera is worth). Minimum cost to repair a broken digital camera is 150-500. Be prepared to spend at least that much if your camera is no longer under warranty. You could also go to the place you purchased it from and have them send it off for you for repair (as most places do not do repairs on site). Remember to have your sales receipt with you. Bring the warranty card as well (if your camera is still under warranty). Keep in mind that regardless of whether or not the repair is under warranty, camera repairs take about 6-8 weeks to complete. No matter what brand it is, no matter where you got it from. This is due to the fact that digital cameras are constantly changing, incredibly fragile, and there are not nearly enough technicians to meet with the demand.

you would be fine if you still have the receipt and tell them that wasn't satisfied with the camera if asked on what it's being returned and would be able to get a full refund with very little to no hassle at all

so many people return products that they weren't satisfied with all the time.

Before I took a camera back, I'd make sure the settings are correct. If the ISO is set too high and you are too close to your subject, the image will be over exposed.

IMO you probably failed to READ & STUDY the Owner's Manual for the camera. Take it back but be prepared for a possible re-stocking fee.
