I've heard lots of good things about these rifles. If this is one of the Marlin Micro-Groove barrels, you should be able to get groups just as tight as you're able to shoot within about 75-100 yards with good ammunition. Marlin does make superb rifles, and their rimfires are no exception to the rule. I have a 1895GS, and it's a very superb rifle, and feels like some very good work went into making such a quality rifle. I had a Marlin semi-auto rimfire years ago when I was in Kansas City, and I think I liked it better than any 10/22 I've shot. It was a good gun but had a tendency to choke on really bad ammunition. It also was worn very badly, and had almost never been cleaned.

Also, all you people that are saying she's a horrible person for asking if a rifle is good or not are the real monsters here. Not once did she mention murdering anyone or anything, it's just your nature to assume that anyone with a gun of any sort is going to use it for nefarious purposes. Psychologists have an explanation, it's call projection. When someone does something, you have a tendency to assume they'd take a path similar to the one you'd take if you were in their place, such as killing and maiming people. Therefore, maybe not in your conscious mind, but your subconscious, you have an urge or need to kill and maim people or animals just the same as you're textually lambasting her over the internet.

Yes, that is a good rifle. Marlin makes a good gun. Keep in mind that it isn't big enough or even legal in most states for any type of big game hunting. But it's great for target shooting and small game hunting.

it shoots .22s so its not a very powerful weapon, however for cheap target practice and varmint shooting, its a good gun. I dont personally like it because its slow loading/unloading and not very powerful... but with ammo prices these days, .22 are good to practice with.
A good big boy toy, not a good sidearm for use in hunting or concealment...

marlin makes a great rifle, you really can't go wrong with a Marlin, there's other brands that are just as good, but generally speaking, the Marlin is a fine rifle for the money.

For small game, rabbits, squirrels, nothing much larger. Doesn't have enough knock down power for deer or elk. You would have to be a dead shot and hit a vital spot that the bullet could penetrate to knock down anything as large as a white tail. Most people aren't.

I have no idea, but if you don't know the answer to that yourself, you shouldn't be thinking about guns anyway.

Good for what? Killing? Every gun is good for that. Helping you be happy? I hope not.
