I do now.

I didn't when I was a faithful believer. I had an incredible ability to ignor and overlook things that glare at me today.

It still amazes me, when I read the bible and see things that I didn't know were were there, but read thousands of times before.

For instance, I read Numbers 5, and was shocked to learn that God promotes poisoning women with water tainted with sacrificial blood and dirt, as a way to prove that she has been faithful to her husband. I read Numbers hundreds of times as a Christian, and never once considered that chapter, and how that might have effected thousands of womans lives back then.

I guess my belief just shut me down from really considering the true implications of the words.

Yes. The Bible has been validated time and time again by history and science testifying that it is not a myth but an account of God's purpose and plan. There are other "scientific" theories out there with far less evidence and support than the Bible. Rather than go through why this is true, I want to refer you to a the website of an author named Lee Strobel. As a former athiest, now turned Christian, he has written many books and articles on this very topic.

Improper question... it assumes that the Bible is a truth I accept. It's not.

Any (intelligent) person scrutinizing the Bible will realize that much of it is quite obviously untrue.

nope. I hold it as more of a lie than a truth.

anything that says

snakes and donkeys can talk
women can be turned into pillars of salt
and that claims the earth is the center of the universe is clearly speaking lies
