My husband had a vasectemy shortly after our four-year-old son was born. I have had my period normal, every month but this month, I am late. Should I be worried about being pregnant? Is this even possible? I am 31 years old and no I haven't cheated, I have been faithful to my husband.

He got the vasectemy actually almost five years ago because my son is four, almost five. No he never got any of the sperm count tests done and I have never gotten pregnant since he had the vasectemy.

It's possible. Take a pregnancy test.

ADDITION:
Sounds like your anxiety is making your delay worse. I would take the prego test and verify you're not pregnant. If you are, I would obviously recommend your hubby going back to the Dr. since it would seem his body might have healed itself.

ORIGINAL:Your husband should have had a follow-up "visit" which required him to submit a cup to verify all sperm was minimal and/or dead.

Did he do that? The surgery was probably good but there's a reason for the follow up. Check on it.

Also, the more anxious you become, the more likely you are to cause yourself to be late or actually miss a period. Stress does that.

Occasionally, a vasectemy does not work (the vas grows back together). The only way to tell would be for him to have his sperm tested. Chances are, you're just late.

It is possible. I'm not sure it can grow back after so many years, usually it happens in the first 6-12 months...but ya never know. Like someone else said, stranger things have happened.
Good luck! If you are pregnant, remember that everything happens for a reason!

The odds are around 1/50,000, so it's very unlikely.

There are other reasons your period could be late - stress etc...

I would get a pregnancy test for your own peace of mind if it doesn't start soon.

Be discrete about it if you do - he doesn't need to know and, no matter how cool you think he is, it will cause unnecessary suspicion.

If you are pregnant, there is still going to be some suspicion because of the odds. I would tell him you want a DNA test, even if he says he trusts you, because you don't want him to have the slightest doubt that you're faithful.

I'm pregnant right now because of a failed vasectomy. Did he go back for his sperm count rechecks? If not then there is a very good chance you could get pregnant. If he did and his count came back at 0 at least two times then it's not AS likely, but still likely.

There is a small possibility. Did he go back for his follow up to have his sperm-count tested after he had the vasectemy?

I've heard there are still possibilites of getting pregnant....but also have you been stressed lately?? Or are your sleep patterns different? Is it a lot lighter?? If the flow is different I'd check it out, but if it's regular and lasts the regular amount of days...I would think you'd be fine...Lots of things can throw it off. If not just buy a test and check it out! Good luck! :-D

It's possible to be pregnant and I have skipped a period one month from time to time over the last 16 years (I'm 29 years old) so you could just be skipping one or your period is going to be really late. Good luck!

Vasectomy's have a failure rate for contraception of 1%. Its possible that you did get pregnant as you can always be that 1%. The longer its been since his vasectomy, the slightly higher likelihood of having it fail for contraception.

My sister became pregnant while married and her husband had had a vasectomy. They were able to test him to see the the likelihood of his vasectomy failing. They discovered that there was only a 0.03% chance of him fathering a child. It was then that my sister informed him that she had indeed cheated on him!! (Bad, I know!) But if you are pregnant and your husband has any doubts, he can be tested.

Take a test in a few days to be sure. You may have some weird case of early menopause; which isn't that bad since you're not planning to have any more children anyway. Or it may just be a strange irregularity and somehow it didn't come or is late. It happens to a lot of girls/women.
