Atheists are just as personable as anyone else. Some are kind and loving, some are generally rude. That applies to all people. Even an easy going person of kindness has the ability to be rude. If someones senses an insult, ridicule, or offense, their rudeness can show.
Remember, in a forum such as this, where there is no visual aid, no "setting up the story", and no knowledge of the other person's sense of humor, or tastes.....perception of tone is everything!
There a few atheists whom I find to be quite insulting and hateful. There are also those Christians who I would like to "take to carpet" for various reasons.
Jump on in and test the waters, you will find those with whom who can relate and those whom you can't.......there is room for all.

Depends on the atheist. And you. A lot of people who claim to be Christian are rude, arrogant and self-righteous. So are a lot of atheists, usually based on the assumption that faith is some sort of mental disorder that needs to be "fixed". And some in both groups prefer to assume that we're all doing our best to follow the truth as we understand it.
There are a lot of really great people in the world, sometimes where you don't expect them. Know your own mind and don't be afraid to hold to your own beliefs, but don't try to force them on others either. It won't work anyway.
"Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone." (Colossians 4:6)

It is possible that anyone may be rude here; just consider the source. Don't let responders hurt your feelings, don't be offended, and don't let anyone draw you into their controversy. If you state that you want sincere answers only and request that only Christians answer, you may minimize responses from others who do not understand your frame of reference or belief system. I am always on the look-out for sincere questions, whose askers indicate that they wish for only Christians to answer.
Welcome to R&S. May you find the information that you seek.

Some people will be rude to you no matter how nice you are, and some of the rude ones will be atheists. But some will be polite and helpful no matter what, and some of the polite ones will also be atheists. You will learn as you go who to ignore and who to trust. Just be courteous and give it a try. Welcome!

Kiki, some atheist like being rude, others like to debate in a more intellectual manner. Some like sarcasm, while other have strange sense of humor, even no respect to anything.
Your age, sex, or educational level may not be enough to prevent rude answers in a forum like this one. Even if you finish your question with a phrase like "please do not post rude answers", rude remarks may be posted.
Bottom line, if you are easily offended by rude or foul language, this may not the forum for you.

If you ask any question here, regardless of what it is, who the audience is, or who you are, you're likely to get at least 10% obnoxious responses. It's just the nature of anonymity.
But if you ask a reasonable question in a polite way, you're likely to overwhelmingly get a response in kind.

Most of us, as with any group of people, will only be rude to you if you are rude to us. There are, of course, some who are rude regardless. Also, what will you consider rude? Will us simply saying that we don't believe in your god or Christ be something you consider to be rude? If that's the case, then many of us will be what you feel is rude. If not, welcome aboard and enjoy the fray.

The atheists will show you the same courtesy you show them.
Starting off assuming that atheists are generally rude people is not a good first impression to make, by the way.

Some will. Many won't, unless you're rude first. It's the nature of the Internet. Go ahead and ask, luv, and ignore the losers.

That would depend on the nature of your question and if you are truely looking to debate religious issues. Most that I have seen, including my self are willing to enlighten those who have been clouded by the church.
Being spiritual is one thing, being religious goes to far.
