I have a little kitten about 12 weeks old. She's really weak and tired today. She just lays down in the middle of the floor totally limp. We thought she was dead, but she was still breathing and her eyes were open, just totally limp. She walks around a bit, then just goes limp until someone moves her. Her nose is pale white, she's not purring like she usually does, she's totally limp in your hands, and she was sneezing a lot earlier today. I think I'm going to call the vet, but does anyone know what else I should do?

...and what might it be?

I just took her there. Apparently she was poisoned by a flea collar, so they put her on iv and tried to flush her system. Hopefully she'll be ok. She's just sleeping.

It could be so many things. She could have gotten into something and eaten something she shouldn't have. She could have an infection.

Please don't "think" you're going to call the vet. Call right now, or better yet, just take her in. You have a veterinary emergency.

CALL THE VET take her right in don't wait. way to many things to try to guess. FIP, FELV, Upper Respiratory infections, internal bleeding, poison, fleas (loss of blood), but from the sneezing hopefully it's just a high fever, and upper respiratory infection. But don't wait if she's this sick, take her some were tonight, if your vet if full.

Please take her to the vet ASAP. Kittens don't have a whole lot of defense against infections. It could be as simple as what she's eating or has eaten, or an infection. But they can get dehydrated very quickly. Ours had to have I.V. fluids and she's 7 months now. Turned out it was because we switched her food we were giving her and so they dewormed her and ran tests. Good luck.

If you don't get her to a vet soon, she'll be dead!
Kittens get viral infections that prevent them from eating or drinking. It could last 2-3 weeks. I had to feed my kitten with an eye dropper for a week until she got better, so she wouldn't dehydrate or starve.
GET HER TO A VET NOW !

When I first got one of my cats she had the same symptoms and she had a upper respiratory infection. I took her right to the vet and got meds. I would say call your vet and see of you can get in there today. No matter if it is the same thing or not you should get her checked out. Good luck :)

As a person who has raised many cats, I urge you to take the kitten to a vet ASAP! There is no other solution. Sorry.

Hmm...yes the poor kitten needs to see a vet ASAP. It sounds to me like she might be anemic. Good luck, I hope everything is okay!

This isn't one of those things you just wait until it gets worse--because it has.
Take her to your vet immediately, if it's full or closed, don't hesitate to take her to the emergency vet.
Good luck and I hope she improves.

Why not wait until it dies to make sure it's *really* sick?

How come people won't hesitate to take a human to the doctor but need for their pet to be near death before they even consider it?
