Sounds to me like you're pastor is looking for a raise. Okay that's cynical...It sounds like the congregation isn't giving as much as it had in previous years and church programs may/might be suffering as a result of diminished giving...Nah, that's not it...Pastor wants a raise...

It's important for your Pastor to not forget the financial circumstances of his parishioners...give what you can afford without it impacting your life to the point of poverty...In other words you can be comfortable and still have a bit to spare. Giving is a choice and privilege...remind your pastor not to abuse that privilege in terms of asking for more. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

And people wonder why atheists see religions as scams.

Yes I know they do SOME good work, but you never really get a chance to actually look at the books, do you? I'd bet in most curches, things don't quite add up.

If the pastor is talking money on the pulpit you should leave. I am jewish but I have heard the stories of Jesus and he was really angry when people were playing with money in his church.

Personally?
I would call him on his ideas regarding stewardship. If he is on the correct line of thought, then I reckon I'd look to see if there's validity in his judgment against me.
When once you understand stewardship, there's never any doubt how much to give. The hard part is figuring out what you really need to keep!

Doesn't that figure....

the money is SUPPOSED to go to the church, to support things like sunday school, and new bibles... but, unfortunately, in reality, it goes to the pastor... he must need a new washing machine or something... shame, really.
